Label designer - instructions

One of the components of LoMag inventory management is the "Labels template editor". The application offers a set of ready templates, but you can also easily create your own template label. To do that, you need to launch the label designer.

1 .Launching the label designer in LoMag inventory management.

Before you launch the designer:

  • You should have at least one item in the warehouse database.
  • You should have a correctly installed printer on which the labels will be printed.
  • You should add at least one warehouse transfer - regards only method 3.

You can launch the label designer in three ways:

Launching the label designer - method 1:

Select LoMag from the top menu of the program

Program Magazynowy

The actions above will display the label generator window.

Program Magazynowy

Launching the label designer - method 2:

Mark the items which interest you in the internal window of the inventory management program - LoMag, then select LoMag from the tool menu.

Program Magazynowy

The following window shall be displayed LoMag. The first step is to choose the template which interests you from the drop-down list of labels, and then click LoMag.

Program Magazynowy

These actions will launch the label designer window.

Program Magazynowy

Please note that when using the first method you launch the label designer with an empty sheet, while when using the second method, the label designer window has been launched with a saved label template, which you chose from the drop-down list of templates.

Launching the label designer - method 3:

The third method is executed from the level of documents LoMag

For example, open the goods received note window (LoMag).

Program Magazynowy

Next you need to select the goods received transfer (LoMag). Find out how to do this here.

Mark the added warehouse transfer and select LoMag from the tools menu

Program Magazynowy

The following window will be displayed: LoMag; further procedure corresponds with method number two.

Please note that launching the editor with method number three could be done from the level of all documents LoMag

2. Designing a warehouse label

Select LoMag from the designer menu to start designing the label.

Program Magazynowy

Designing a warehouse label - settings:

Go to the drop-down list (marked below) and choose the size of the sheet on which you will be designing your new label.

Program Magazynowy

A sheet can divided into several labels - select LoMag from the menu. The sheet division configuration window will come up.

Program Magazynowy

To have multiple labels on one page, first you need to mark the LoMag field. Next, set the division of the sheet into columns and rows with LoMag and LoMag. The LoMag is a very interesting option - it allows the generation and printing of an appropriate number of labels basing on warehouse data.

Program Magazynowy

The LoMag function is very useful when launching the editor with method 3 (described above). This option allows you to generate and print an amount of labels corresponding with the current warehouse transfer, e.g., corresponding with the amount of the received items (see below).

Program Magazynowy

Thanks to the LoMag function in the designer menu you can see that the program generated as many labels as there are received items.

Program Magazynowy

Designing a warehouse label - the design:

After setting the label designer parameters such as: the size of the sheet, division of the sheet into many labels, it is time to start designing your own logistic label. The example we present is on A4, divided into multiple labels - division of a sheet into 2 columns and 3 rows.

In order to design a personalised label you will be using tools, which can be found on the left-hand side of the designer and the design mock-up.

Program Magazynowy

Begin the designing of the label by employing the LoMag tool; it may be used for framing and encompassing various elements of the label.

Left-click the LoMag tool and then, while holding the left-click, drag it to the design mock-up.

Program Magazynowy

After you do that, the tool will be located on the label mock-up (see below).

Program Magazynowy

To adjust the size of the rectangle to your own needs, place the pointer on the boarder of the rectangle, which is marked in red , and then, using the left mouse button drag the boarder to the desired place.

Program Magazynowy

Example effect of the above operations:

Program Magazynowy

Additionally, you may set several parameters of the employed tool (see below).

Program Magazynowy

Let’s continue with the designing of the label. Use the LoMag tool to enter text to your label. To do that, drag LoMag to the label mock-up, just like you did with the LoMag tool.

Program Magazynowy

Next - enter the text - go to the tool settings.

Program Magazynowy

Remove Text from the LoMag parameter and enter "Warehouse label example".

Program Magazynowy

Please note that the "Warehouse label example" text entered by you has not been fully displayed on your mock-up, as the size of the LoMag tool field is limited. Go to the LoMag parameter change from LoMag to LoMag. After performing these actions the size of the field will be automatically adjusted to the size of the text entered by you.

Program Magazynowy

You may also change the size and the type of the font. Simply go to the LoMag parameter, and click LoMag. The configuration window will be displayed.

Program Magazynowy

The next tool which may be used is LoMag; which graphically separates data.

Program Magazynowy

The LoMag tool is for adding your company logo onto the label. To do that, click the LoMag icon and carry it over to the mock-up. After you do that, the window for adding images will come up.

Program Magazynowy

Next, choose an image with the logo of your company and click LoMag. The image will be uploaded onto our mock-up.

Program Magazynowy

Now, it is time to add information about the item. First, add information about the name of the item. Simply drag the LoMag tool and the LoMag tool onto your mock-up.

Program Magazynowy

Enter the information (text) "Item name" to the LoMag field, do not enter anything to the LoMag field, it will be automatically entered. To check, how the label will be generated after using the following tools, use the print preview (LoMag).

Program Magazynowy

As you can see above the name of the item has been filled in automatically. Please note that the name of the item has been cut short, for that reason we change the parameters of the following tools LoMag and LoMag, LoMag.

Program Magazynowy

As you can see, the change of the LoMag parameter did not meet your expectations entirely. The name of the product has not been fully displayed due to the lack of space on the label. To change that, you need to use the LoMag function. Mark both tools LoMag and LoMag - using the "ctrl" button. Then right-click and select LoMag.

Program Magazynowy

Once you've done the above, drag one tool to the other (see below).

Program MagazynowyProgram Magazynowy

Verify the effect of your actions with the use of the LoMag tool.

Program Magazynowy

As you can see, this time the whole of the item name is displayed. In a similar fashion you can add other information with the LoMag tool.

Let's add the following fields to your label example: LoMag, LoMag and LoMag.

Program MagazynowyProgram Magazynowy

The bar code is an important element on every logistic label; use the LoMag tool. As with the other tools, drag the LoMag tool to the label mock-up.

Program Magazynowy

Use the LoMag and check out how the barcode generated with the use of LoMag inventory management.

Program Magazynowy

The preview above shows that the barcode number (of a given item) has been displayed. You, however, need a graphic representation of the barcode number, which you will be able to read with a barcode reader.

We add one more LoMag element to our mock-up.

Program Magazynowy

Next, you need to set the type (system) of coding in the LoMag parameter of the LoMag tool.

Program Magazynowy

In this case the barcode is comprised of 13 digits, so to encode your number correctly, you need to choose LoMag encoding. Below you can see how the barcode has been generated and why you had to use the LoMag tool twice.

Program Magazynowy

As you can see, the barcode has been properly generated, and using the LoMag tool twice enabled the display if the barcode in two versions: text (code number) and graphic (bar code).

What would happen if you used the LoMag encoding? To find out change the encoding of the LoMag tool form LoMag to LoMag.

Program Magazynowy

A LoMag window comes up, informing you that the number of the item cannot be generated, as the LoMag system is dedicated for numbers with 11 or 12 digits. The product in the above example has a 13 digit number and you cannot encode it in the LoMag system.

The LoMag label editor also offers the possibility of encoding in LoMag and LoMag systems. Using those types of encoding in your example warehouse label is possible, and your 13 digit product number will be properly encoded. Also, the LoMag and LoMag encoding systems make it possible to encode not only digits, but also letters (an example of an item number: LoMag). Those systems do not encode Polish signs.

The barcode option may be also used for encoding the remaining information (tools). Let's add barcodes for information about the current stock levels and the value of an item. To do that, you need to drag the LoMag tool onto the mock-up for the second time.

Program Magazynowy

As with the LoMag tool, you need to set the type of encoding for the LoMag field; to do that, go to tool settings, to the LoMag parameter - set the LoMag encoding (recommended).

Program MagazynowyProgram Magazynowy

Do the same for the LoMag tool and check out the generated labels by clicking LoMag.

Program Magazynowy

Now you have the information about the current stock level and the value of the items presented in text form and graphic form (bar code).

Certain data connected with the current status, value, etc., may be presented in words, for example let's present the information about the value of an item (LoMag) in this manner. Let us drag the LoMag tool to your mock-up label (for the third time).

Program Magazynowy

Next, to display information about the value of the product in words (rather than in numbers), go to the settings of the LoMag tool, and change the LoMag parameter.

Program Magazynowy

To verify whether the function has been executed properly, go to the LoMag once again.

Program Magazynowy

As you can see, the numbers have been automatically changed by the program into words. Such a mechanism may be used if needed with the remaining tools: LoMag.

The label mock-up includes more and more elements, so you might want to separate one piece of information from another to prevent any mistakes. To do that, you have to go to the LoMag tool again. For example - the mock-up includes information about the value of the item in three different forms (digits, bar code, words); to prevent any misunderstandings, mark these elements as a whole (using the LoMag tool).

Drag the LoMag icon to the mock-up as below:

Program Magazynowy

Next, expand the LoMag field over all the information regarding the value of the item.

Program MagazynowyProgram Magazynowy

The LoMag field obscured all of the content regarding the value of the item - this was not your intention, right-click the rectangle and select LoMag - see what happened.

Program MagazynowyProgram Magazynowy

This seemingly made the rectangle disappear from the mock-up. But not entirely! The rectangle, which we added to separate certain data, is on the label mock-up, but it hid under the big rectangle, which we added at the very beginning of the instructions. Let’s try using the LoMag function for the big rectangle (see below).

Program Magazynowy

As a result, you see the rectangle, which we added a moment ago to the mock-up. As mentioned before, it will include information on the value of the item.

Program Magazynowy

Additionally, for a more visible division of certain data, you may set the parameters of the LoMag tool (e.g. LoMag) and aesthetically distribute the elements encompassed by the rectangle (see below).

Program Magazynowy

Perform the same action for all the elements, which you wish to separate from each other.

Program Magazynowy

You have already added the LoMag tool to the mock-up before, for example, for the company logo (as a permanent image on the label). This time around you will use the LoMag tool to add a current photograph of a given product. So, let's drag the LoMag icon onto the mock-up, and check the print preview.

Program MagazynowyProgram Magazynowy

As you can see above, photos for given products have been displayed. Please note that for this function to work, the product must have its photo in the database. Otherwise, the photograph of the product will not be displayed. The photo of the product should be added, when adding the product to the LoMag inventory management program's database. (Find out here how to add a new item to the program's database.)

LoMag inventory management is a very friendly program, it allows its users to add additional columns (LoMag), i.e., to add their own columns including (any) information about the products.
For example, you would like the program's database to include a certain piece of information, e.g., about the colour of an item - use the LoMag to achieve that.

Let's add a column informing about the colour of the product. Go to the program settings by selecting LoMag from the main menu or by using the Ctrl+U shortcut.

Program Magazynowy

Go to the LoMag tab.

Program Magazynowy

Because the information about the colour of the product is in text form, you are interested in text columns in this case. If you wanted to add numerical information (about an item) use the LoMag part of interface.

Mark LoMag, and enter the name of the column "Item colour" and confirm it with LoMag.

Program Magazynowy

Next, you need to proceed to the edition of items. Go to the LoMag window, mark a given item and click LoMag - the LoMag window (for the item) will be displayed.

Program MagazynowyProgram Magazynowy

You will find the LoMag field (marked on the image above) in the LoMag window, where you need to enter information about the product - in this case - information about the colour of the item.
Add the information about the colour and then click LoMag

Program Magazynowy

Go back to the label editor; you should have a new tool on the left-hand side in the tools menu, LoMag.

Program Magazynowy

Add the newly created tool to the mock-up (LoMag) and verify the effect on the print preview (LoMag).

Program MagazynowyProgram Magazynowy

As you can see in the LoMag window above, information about the colour of the product for "Apples" has been displayed. You can also see that this information was not displayed for the remaining (other) items - for it to be displayed you must edit the rest of the products (like we did above in the LoMag module for "Apples").

Saving the warehouse label design

Saving the design

Your work is done, you have a new warehouse label, adjusted to your own needs - it's worth saving it.

To save your design (label), select LoMag from the label designer menu - the LoMag window will be displayed.

Program Magazynowy

Go to the LoMag field, name the template and confirm with the LoMag button. If you saved your template before, but you've changed it since then, select LoMag or LoMag from the menu. Next, select LoMag, mark LoMag and click LoMag.

Saving a label in a PDF format

It is possible to save a label in a *.pdf format in the label designer in LoMag inventory management. To save a label as a *.pdf, click LoMag, select a location where the file is to be saved and click LoMag.

Exporting the label template

You can also export the label template beyond LoMag inventory management (to the computer hard drive). Select LoMag. The template shall be saved in *.xml format.

Printing the warehouse label

Printing the label

To print your warehouse label, first go to the LoMag module. Select the output device (printer) and click LoMag (see below).
