How to Transfer the Old Version of the Program to a New Computer

Sometimes there is a need to transfer LoMag software to a new computer because the previous one has failed or the employee has been replaced with a new one. The following instructions will show two ways to transfer the LoMag warehouse application to a new workplace. They may differ in the configuration of network operation, different software should be moved for the client and differently for unit or server work.

1. Process of Transferring the Old Version to the Client Computer

Marking the job as a customer means that the company has many jobs, and the computer from which we want to transfer data connects to some external server. In the software settings, select the second option: "Many Computers - This computer is a client, and connects with the server"

In the case of transferring software to the client, the actions are quite simple. Copy all files (the entire directory) where the program was installed, by default, LoMag is installed in "C: \ Program Files (x86) \ LoMag". Copying should be done to an external data reader i.e. USB key (USB stick), CD-ROM, external disk. On the new work unit (new computer), the user must create a directory where he wants to copy the data (ideally the path should be identical to the one from which we copied the data), and then transfer the copied files to external memory. To create a shortcut on your desktop, right-click on the icon named magazyn.exe and select the create shortcut from the drop-down list option.

Network settings should be correctly transferred when copying files they are located in the file "magazyn.exe.config". The program connects to the SQL server using the user "sa" and the password "mAgAzyn_2008!". NOTE: In the installations of the program from and before 2018 the password "magazyn2008" was used. When working in a network, the database is visible in "SQL Server Management Studio". The default database name is "LoMag" in English version. You can change the user, password, database name and authentication method, but the data must be manually entered in the file "Magazyn.exe.config".

2. Moving the Software with the Settings of a Single Operation or Acting as a Server

As in the first point of this manual, you should copy the files from the folder where the LoMag software is installed to an external memory, and then place them in the directory selected by the user. The next step is to make sure that on the new computer we have the same version of the SQL database that we had on the computer from which the files were copied. In order to check what version of SQL database we currently have, go to the settings window and the network operation panel in newer versions. Pressing the blue button will display a window with information about the product installed on the computer and its version.

In older versions of the program it is not possible to check which version of SQL server is installed on the computer. In this case, run the control panel and go to applications and functions. By entering the phrase SQL in the search window, we will receive results that will allow us to determine the version installed on the computer.

SQL Server installation instructions can be found at this address. The installation file for the 2005 version can be found at this link. Network settings should be correctly transferred when copying files to a new workstation. In case they do not function properly, use the guidelines from the end of the first point of this manual. The last step is to make sure that the users of the new computer have read and write permissions for the newly copied SQL database. To this end, as the Windows system administrator, find and open the folder that was given in the details of the access denied (C: \ Program Files (x86) \ LoMag \ Database \).

There should be two files in this directory with the names company.mdf and company_log.ldf, both should be assigned full control for the user who faced a backup error. Right click on the file icon and select the last item, properties, from the drop-down menu.

In the newly opened window responsible for the properties of the selected file, switch to the security tab, and then find a specific user to assign him rights, or select the Users option, so that all persons using the computer have full rights (individual accounts are marked on the left with one man icon in green outfit, and the group of many users with two characters). After selecting the appropriate item, press the 'Edit' button.

In the new window, select the user (s) and then in the allow column select all boxes. In order to grant him full permissions to operate on the file, we confirm the decision by pressing the apply button. After performing this operation, the user who was facing problems with archiving the LoMag database should get access to this operation.

If you do not have an older version and requires version, for example, 3.7.4.1 can be downloaded by following this link. If you need another version, for example. 4.1.6.1 can be downloaded by following this link. Similarly, enter the URL in the browser for the other versions by changing only the final numbering of the software version.
