Changing Warehouse Locations

Warehouse locations or address locations enable efficient position of the goods storage. If we have a large number of items/products distributed in several places or on many shelves then these address locations play significant role. In order to apply the warehouse location function, then first include it in the LoMag warehouse software settings.

Choose the settings option from the drop-down list of prgram tab or use Ctrl+U shortcut key. The window will be opened in front of you.

To activate 'Warehouse Locations' move your cursor to Assembly tab, check the 'Support for warehouse locations' option and then confirm the changes with the OK button.

1. Configuration of New Warehouse Location

Now select the item tab present at the top of the menu and choose the 'Warehouse locations' option from the drop-down list.

The new window of the warehouse location will be appeared in front of your screen.

Click on the 'Add' option to add a new warehouse location.

The new warehouse location window has three fields;

  1. Location Code: It is meant for defining the location of the warehouse goods. These codes can be defined freely and LoMag enables the user to define the format of these codes. It is the choice of user but the recommended technique is to use the specific format set by our program. The standard format of warehouse location is '#n/rr/p' where #n stands for the number of the storage chamber, rr stands for the number of the rack or stand, p means the position of the item for the rack "rr".
  2. Location: It is used for detailed description of the storage place.
  3. Archival Location: If you want to archieved the specifi location.

By creating a code in this way, user can easily define and find a given location. It is worth remembering that the standard of storage location is at the software disposal and may contain many information. For more understanding check the example below;

The created location has been saved and is available in the module of warehouse locations. The similar function is also available in warehouse documents, where we can systematically use new warehouse locations for the goods accepted in stock. For this purpose, open a new document for goods received note as shown below. Click on the Add option to add some items.

Now choose any item from the drop-down menu. The screen will add the name, price and total amount. Click on the drop-down icon and select the previously defined location of the warehouse.

Now in order to view the above settings, click on the find tool. This will open a find window in front of user, select the appliances from the drop-down menu of the group text box. The cable item will be shown. As you can see from the window that it has also Warehouse location column. Moreover, the windows shows you the correct location of cable item. The ':1' is used for number of cable item selected during the procedure.

In order to check the location of the stored goods, use the stock level on module present at the top of the window.

Now open the warehouse location window as we did before. The column of 'location stock level' contains the information of cable item.

We can add different items or goods to a single chamber. Check the screenshot below.

Similarly, single item can be stored in several different locations.

The warehouse locations tool allows you to check free storage spaces. To do this, use the data sorting function by clicking on the Location stock level position (see below).

This will lift-up all the warehouses which contains free space.

2. Changing the Location of Goods

Sometimes user wants to change the location of goods and for this purpose, LoMag allows you to define the specific location. Click on the 'Interbranch Transfer' module present at the top of the menu. Or simply use Shift+F4 shortcut key. Click on the 'Add' button.

Now determine the 'From' and 'To' locations of the warehouse. Specify the target location and confirm your setting by clicking OK button.

2.1 Changing Group Locations of the Goods

To change the location for several items at once, open the Find window again. If we have a full list without any filters, press the % Change button, it will display a new window with all products marked. This list can be changed by deselecting the relevant goods on the list.

By entering the value 'a' in the name filter, all goods that contain the 'a' alphabet in their name are displayed. Pressing the '% change' button. It will display only those items that are visible in the list after applying the filter. To change properties for selected goods, press Next.

In the second step, specify the parameter you want to change. In our case, select the 'Location' option. Click the 'Next' button.

The last step is to set a new location for selected goods. To do this, select the desired location from the drop-down list.

On pressing the Quit button will display a Question for the user, which asks whether he wants to changes the location for the selected goods or not? Click the 'Yes' button to change the location for selected goods.

Now the 'Find' window will show you the changes made by us. The value after the colon represents the state of the item in the specified position.

2.2 Changing the Location through Editing Tool

In the goods received notes window, find the document for which you want to change the location of the accepted goods. To edit a specific document, double-click it with the left mouse button, or select it with the edit option. This will open the editing window for specific document.

To change the code and the name of the location, click the Set the Location icon, and then in the new window select the new value from the drop-down list.

By default, you can't see the changes you've made. For this click on the 'manage coloumn' option at the bottom of the menu and move the location code as well as location in the visible columns of the screen (see below). Click on OK button to confirm the settings.

Now you can see the assigned code and location for the 'Potatoes' item.

Note! It is possible to set separate locations for each new delivery in the warehouse. For example, the location of Banana is changed in the document. This change will differ the warehouse location window as well, the stock level of Banana for code #3/01/01 is 30, but it can also be seen that there is a delivery in which 20 kg of Banana with code #2/04/2 is defined also. Adding both quantities of goods that have a location we will get 50 kg and below there is another entry for 1kg of Banana with the code #3/01/2. This will make the total 51 kg. This means that for remaining 100 kg of this product no location was assigned, because in the window of the goods directory we can state that the total stock of goods in the warehouse is 151 kilograms (in order to change all deliveries, please check the 2.1 heading of this manual).

2.3 Changing the Location by Editing the Name

The user of the LoMag software can easily correct the error of the wrong location, for example, considers a case, where he made a typographical error, or transferred to a completely new location. To do this, open the warehouse location window, select the appropriate row and press the Edit button.

Now correct the error or mistake. Enter a new code or location i.e. Store Mailbox no 15, confirm the user decision by clicking on Save button.

This will make the changes and correct the previous warehouse location. The screen will also return the goods assigned to this location.
