Item Components and Merging Functionality in GRN Documents

The Item Components functionality was developed to make it easier to manage goods that arrive at the warehouse in separate packages, while the finished product consists of several individual packages. Thanks to this feature, LoMag can automatically create a product according to a previously prepared configuration, which saves time and simplifies goods management.

1. Enabling the Item Merging Function

To start using the Item Components function, you must enable the Item Merging option. To do this, go to the Program menu and then select Settings.

Next, in the Documents tab, click the Goods Receipt option. In the Settings for all documents section, check the Item merging support option. Confirm your selection by clicking OK.

2. Configuring item merging

After enabling Item Merging support, we can configure the components, i.e. the goods that make up a given product. This is done in the Search window or the Item Register, where the Item Components option is available.

Next, we can start creating the configuration by clicking the Add button and adding subsequent elements. In our example, the warehouse stores parts of a table, which consists of a tabletop, legs, and screws. To create the table, it must exist in the warehouse as a separate product. We select it in the program, then click the Item Components button and specify the type and quantity of goods needed to create the finished product. In our case, 1 table requires 1 tabletop, 4 legs, and 4 screws.

Item Components can also be checked at any time in the Item Properties window and modified if needed.

3. Adding a Goods Receipt (GRN)

When we want to receive goods into the warehouse and create a Goods Receipt document (GRN), we can enter the quantity of received components. LoMag will then automatically determine how many finished products can be assembled from them and entered into stock.

Goods are added to the GRN document using the Add button. In our example, this is 2 tabletops, 4 legs, and 4 screws.

To merge the components, click the Merge button. In the newly opened window, we can see that LoMag has found an available item-merging configuration and can merge the components into a specific number of finished products. In our case, this means 1 tables. To merge them, click Yes. If the individual components have prices assigned, those values will also remain summed after merging.

Since the number of legs and screws was higher, they were not all used. The program displays information about the items that were not fully assembled. These remain in the warehouse.

After saving the Goods Receipt document, we can see that 1 tables were created, and 1 tabletops remained in stock.
